The collection draws inspiration from “kanreki” (還暦), a Japanese tradition inherited from ancient China, which celebrates the beginning of a new stage in life known as the “second childhood.” In this celebration, the color red symbolizes the spirit of youth and rebirth. “The Power of Color” builds on this idea of renewal, starting with red and then delving into other hues.

My first visit to Ángela Mena’s studio: I remember my first meeting with Ángela with great affection. She shared with me her amazing story and, together with her beloved Tula, showed me all the corners of her wonderful studio. It was exciting to see the four large pieces from “The Power of Color” collection, which were to be shown in an exhibition. 
She demonstrated her technique, playing with a paper figure and the light of a large lamp, carefully observing the movements of shadows and translating them onto the canvas. True art!.

ESTIMATED SHIPPING TIME – Commissioned Artwork: Ángela Mena requires approximately two months to complete and ship the painting, once it is dry and packed. The artwork will be shipped directly from Seville to the address you provide. At Belma Craft & Art, we will keep you updated on the status of your painting throughout the process. The wait will be worth it!
SHIPPING Options:
- Framed: The artwork will be delivered with a 5 cm deep beech wood frame, ready to hang.
- In PVC Tube: The artwork will arrive in a PVC tube, along with the stretcher bars.

INSURANCE: Your artwork is fully insured during transport. Each piece is carefully packaged under the artist’s supervision. In the unlikely event that the piece arrives broken or damaged, Belma Craft & Art will cover the return costs and handle the compensation. If the artwork cannot be repaired or restored, you will receive a full refund. Our goal is to ensure that every customer has a satisfactory and secure experience when purchasing a piece of art.
WARRANTY: Each artwork is signed by Ángela Mena on the back of the canvas and comes with a certificate of authenticity featuring a holographic seal.
RETURNS: Please note that on-demand orders are non-returnable.

Graduate in Fine Arts from the University of Seville, specializing in painting. She furthered her studies in Florence, Italy, focusing on sculpture, and at Muthesius University of Kiel, Germany. Currently, she is a member of the research group HUM337 at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Seville.
After running her own workshops in various European cities such as London and Madrid, Mena returned to her native Seville, where she currently lives and works.
Among Ángela Mena’s recent accomplishments is the First Prize in Painting from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of Santa Isabel de Hungría.
Her work is primarily inspired by the observation of nature and how humans relate to it. Restless, intuitive, and skillful, she has developed an abstract oeuvre emphasizing the emotional impact of color and how it resonates with the viewer, often without the need to understand the conceptual underpinnings of the work.
Following her time in Berlin, Germany, where she was influenced by geometric shapes and color distribution in space, her work evolved into abstract geometry titled “Espacio y Color.” Later, her figurative study of animals inspired the geometric series “Nidos” (Nests).
The study of planes leads her to her own figuration, starting with the series “Paisaje de Bolsillo” (“Pocket Landscape”), followed by the representations of landscapes in exotic locations, painted from photographs. As a result, her paintings depict idealized places that are part of the series “Allí donde vive el mar” (“Where the Sea Lives”).
Throughout her artistic journey, a strong guiding thread has been profound intuition towards color, reaching its pinnacle in the collection “The Power of Color”, which in turn became the foundation for the “Vínculos Salvajes” project. Here, the geometry is present in a more organic and fluid manner.
Her works are held in numerous private collections, including prominent institutions such as Candela Álvarez Soldevilla (Studiolo Colection), Ella Fontanals Cisneros (Cifo), CAC Málaga and the Valentín de Madariaga Foundation.
