Description
The MIMBRE S bag is a compact piece defined by its braided leather structure and balanced proportions. It features a woven construction in premium vegetable-tanned leather that forms a structured outer shell around a removable inner pouch in 100% cotton canvas, creating a refined contrast between texture and softness.
The design is completed with an adjustable and removable leather strap with a maximum length of 120 cm, allowing it to be worn over the shoulder or crossbody. A discreet magnetic closure ensures ease of use while keeping your essentials secure.
Crafted using high-quality materials, the leather is vegetable-tanned, free from chrome and heavy metals, and finished with hand-burnished edges using water-based dyes. This process enhances durability while preserving the natural character of the material. The reinforced base and handles help maintain the structure of the bag over time.
Part of the MIMBRE series, the design draws on the language of traditional basketry, reinterpreted through a contemporary approach that emphasises structure, rhythm and material contrast. The colour palette reflects natural tones and subtle variations, enhancing the tactile quality of the piece.
The MIMBRE S is available in a curated selection of colours. Due to its artisanal nature, each piece may present slight variations in tone, grain and structure. Subtle marks or irregularities are part of the making process and contribute to the uniqueness of each bag.
COMPACT IN SCALE, DEFINED BY MATERIAL AND MAKING – CRAFTED IN SPAIN
Belma Craft & Art selected MIMBRE S for:
- Its braided leather structure and rhythmic pattern
- The option to personalise the inner pouch
- A compact format with a light, defined presence
- A small-scale, design-led production
- Its versatility across different ways of wearing
- Designed by Francisco Crescini and Ángela González, creating objects with identity and lasting presence.
My visit to the Taller Piccolo: After walking through a quiet garden, I arrived at the courtyard where Fran and Ángela welcomed me into their workshop. Inside, the scent of wood and natural leather filled the space. Tools lined the walls, and pieces — from furniture to bags — were arranged at different stages of completion. A light layer of sawdust covered the floor, while personal elements, like Fran’s guitar, added character to the studio.
In this calm and focused enviroment Fran and Ángela shared stories from their workshop, including memories of when Antonio Banderas — a childhood friend of Ángela’s brother — would spend time there playing the guitar.
We spoke about the balance between craftsmanship and design, not as separate disciplines, but as part of the same process. Their work is driven by a clear intention to create objects with structure, function and lasting presence. In that moment, it became evident how closely they way of working aligns with my vision at Belma, bringing considered, high-quality Spanish pieces into everyday life in the Netherlands.

CARE: Vegetable-tanned leather evolves over time. With use and exposure to light, it will gradually darken, developing a natural patina. Proper care will help preserve its character while allowing it to age beautifully.
Leather:
- Protecting from mould:
The environment in which you store your leather pieces is essential. High humidity, poor ventilation and dirt can encourage mould growth. To help prevent this, keep your bag in a dry, well-ventilated space. A natural moisture absorber, such as a pouch of rice, can be placed nearby to reduce humidity.
If mould appears, remove it by gently brushing the surface outdoors with a soft-bristled brush (such as a toothbrush). Dry the leather using air circulation, a fan, gentle heat, or natural sunlight.
If necessary, clean the surface using a sponge with soap foam, then wipe gently with a damp cloth, taking care not to saturate the leather.
- Protecting from stains:
If the leather comes into contact with liquids, dry it immediately with a clean, soft cloth and allow it to air dry.
To avoid marks, clean the surface evenly using a soft, damp cloth rather than focusing on one area. Rubbing specific areas may cause localised darkening.
For more serious stains, we recommend consulting a professional leather cleaner.
- Surface care:
Marks caused by friction or environmental dirt can be gently reduced using a soft eraser.
Maintenance: We recommend applying products that help maintain the leather’s hydration and restore its appearance, such as beeswax-based balms, petroleum jelly or neutral hand cream. Always test on a small area before full application.
Protection: If you wish to preserve the original appearance for longer, apply a high-quality water and stain repellent for leather, free of silicones and wax, as soon as you receive the product.
It is advisable to test the product on a small, discreet area first. Please note that these treatments may slightly darken the leather. Reapply every 2 to 3 months.
For bags with textile elements:
Clean textile areas periodically with a damp cloth. Fabric soaps may be used, following the manufacturer’s instructions carefully and without excess. Do not use undiluted cleaning products, bleach, ammonia or soaps intended for other materials.
In case of stains, act promptly. Remove any excess with a spoon or, if liquid, with a clean white cloth. Non-greasy stains can be treated by gently rubbing with a cloth.
To avoid marks, work in soft circular motions towards the centre of the stain. The fabric must be completely dry before reuse; a low-temperature dryer may be used if needed.
Many pieces combine organic cotton with vegetable-tanned leather. Take care to keep the leather dry during the cleaning process, as colour transfer may occur.
For models such as the Nerja bags, separate the textile part from the leather structure as much as possible and clean each component individually.
For more persistent stains or general maintenance, we recommend professional dry cleaning.
