Description

The “Women” series presents a limited edition of giclée artworks (30 × 30 cm), developed from original sumi-e ink compositions by Yano Yoro.

Each piece begins as a hand-painted work on rice paper. The artist then reinterprets the composition digitally, developing a final version specifically conceived for edition. The result is a distinct artwork in its own right, produced as a limited edition giclée rather than a direct reproduction of the original piece.

Printed on 230 g laid paper using a seven-ink process, these works offer depth and texture, preserving the subtlety of the original brushwork.

Each artwork is released in a limited edition of 50, plus 2 artist proofs, individually numbered and signed.

The series explores a quiet, introspective vision of femininity, expressed through minimal gestures, fluid lines and the use of empty space. Working within the tradition of sumi-e, each brushstroke is guided by posture, breath and concentration, where precision and spontaneity coexist.

These works integrate naturally into a space, bringing calm, softness and depth without excess. They work particularly well in minimal, contemporary and Japandi interiors, either as a standalone piece or in composition.

A QUIETER WAY OF LIVING WITH SPANISH ART

Selected by Belma Craft & Art

At Belma, we curate pieces where material, process and artistic language come together with clarity. Selected for its balance between tradition and contemporary expression, this series reflects a practice where gesture, material and restraint define the final piece.

Its quiet presence and versatility make it particularly suited to interiors that value subtlety, texture and a considered use of art. Yano Yoro’s practice also extends beyond the finished work, offering the possibility to engage more closely with her process through workshops and direct contact with the artist.

A personal note

This was one of the first works by Yano Yoro I brought to the Netherlands.Yano Yoro- First painting in The Netherlands

For my friend Carmen’s birthday, Rocío and I wanted to surprise her with something truly special. Knowing her love for original artworks and her connection to nature, the choice felt very clear — the piece you see here.
I still remember the moment she unwrapped it, and how naturally it found its place in her bedroom, where she could see it every day.
Over time, it became more than a gift — a piece she lives with, and one she returns to. A quiet reminder of that moment, and of the meaning it holds.

Consejos de Belma and Craft

The advice of Belma Craft & Art

Place the work where it can be seen and lived with over time, whether in a bedroom, a quiet corner or a more intimate area of the home. Natural light enhances the subtlety of the ink and its tonal variations, while avoiding direct sunlight helps preserve the depth of the piece. It can be complemented with simple elements such as flowers or natural materials, allowing the work to remain the focal point.

Behind the name Yano Yoro is the artist Susana Llorente, born in Madrid and now based in Muxía, on the Galician coast (A Coruña).

Her artistic journey began early in her father’s workshop, where he was a skilled craftsman specialized in goldsmithing and metal enameling.

She studied Interior Architecture, Graphic Design and Human Anatomy Modeling,  and spent over fifteen years working in sculpture and doll-making, with pieces held in private collections across North America and Central Europe. Alongside her artistic practice, she has curated exhibitions and taught extensively throughout Spain.

Her encounter with oriental art and Zen philosophy led her to the practice of sumi-e, a Japanese ink painting technique rooted in discipline, gesture and concentration. A disciple of Li Chi-Pang, master of traditional Chinese painting, she became a sumi-e teacher in 1997, collaborating with her mentor.

Since 2010, living in Costa da Morte (Galicia), her work has been shaped by the surrounding landscape — its light, its rhythm and its sense of openness.

Working on rice paper, silk, ceramics and porcelain, her practice is defined by immediacy and control. Each gesture is intentional, each mark carries weight, often within a restrained, almost achromatic palette.

Alongside her studio work, Yano Yoro continues to teach and share her practice through workshops and lectures across Spain, maintaining a strong connection between artistic creation and transmission.
