Hejduk Cajita Black Leather Bag

 410,00

A structured leather bag defined by its geometric form and softened by subtle details. The HEJDUK Cajita brings together material, construction and craftsmanship in a piece designed to be lived with over time.

Handcrafted in Málaga by Taller Piccolo, it can be worn in different ways — in hand, over the shoulder or crossbody — adapting naturally to different moments.

Description

Crafted from a single piece of vegetable-tanned leather, the HEJDUK Cajita takes shape through a precise modelling process, folding onto itself to achieve its structured and geometric form.

A refined detail on the flap, together with the distinctive oak wood feet, introduces a subtle contrast of materials. The sides are hand-sewn with cross stitches, reinforcing its construction, while all edges are hand-burnished and finished with water-based paints, reflecting the care behind each stage.

The interior is lined with suede and features a magnetic closure. The bag includes two interchangeable options: a 115 cm strap and a top handle, allowing it to be worn in different ways. Both can be easily adjusted using the small screws provided.

Part of the HEJDUK Series, the piece reflects an exploration of transforming flat material into volume, drawing from pattern-making and garment construction. The result is a precise balance of symmetry and form.

The HEJDUK Cajita is also available in natural and cherry.

Natural variations in the leather may result in subtle differences in colour, grain and surface markings. Slight irregularities in form are inherent to the artisanal process and contribute to the character of each piece.

STEP OUT WITH CONFIDENCE — CARRYING A PIECE CRAFTED IN SPAIN, DESIGNED TO STAND OUT.

Belma Craft & Art selected HEJDUK Cajita for:

  • Precision in every stitch and finish
  • Its distinctive, geometric design
  • The contrast of leather and oak wood
  • Its versatility, with interchangeable handle and strap
  • A small-scale, design-led production
  • Designed by Francisco Crescini and Ángela González, creating objects with identity and lasting presence.

My visit to Taller Piccolo: After strolling through a beautiful garden, I entered the courtyard where Fran and Ángela welcomed me into their workshop. Inside, the scent of wood and natural leather filled the space. Tools lined the walls, and objects — from furniture to bags — were arranged in different stages of completion. A light layer of sawdust covered the floor, while a decorative arch and a few personal elements, like Fran’s guitar, added character to the studio.

In this calm and focused environment, Fran and Ángela shared stories from their workshop, including memories of when Antonio Banderas — a childhood friend of Ángela’s brother — would spend time there playing the guitar.

We spoke about the balance between craftsmanship and design, not as separate disciplines, but as part of the same process. Their work is driven by a clear intention to create objects with structure, function and lasting presence. In that moment, it became evident that their way of working closely aligns with my vision at Belma: to introduce considered, high-quality Spanish pieces into everyday life in the Netherlands.

CARE: Vegetable-tanned leather evolves over time. With use and exposure to light, it will gradually darken, developing a natural patina. Proper care will help preserve its character while allowing it to age beautifully.

Leather:

  • Protecting from mould:

The environment in which you store your leather pieces is essential. High humidity, poor ventilation and dirt can encourage mould growth. To help prevent this, keep your bag in a dry, well-ventilated space. A natural moisture absorber, such as a pouch of rice, can be placed nearby to reduce humidity.

If mould appears, remove it by gently brushing the surface outdoors with a soft-bristled brush (such as a toothbrush). Dry the leather using air circulation, a fan, gentle heat, or natural sunlight.

If necessary, clean the surface using a sponge with soap foam, then wipe gently with a damp cloth, taking care not to saturate the leather.

  • Protecting from stains:

If the leather comes into contact with liquids, dry it immediately with a clean, soft cloth and allow it to air dry.

To avoid marks, clean the surface evenly using a soft, damp cloth rather than focusing on one area. Rubbing specific areas may cause localised darkening.

For more serious stains, we recommend consulting a professional leather cleaner.

  • Surface care:

Marks caused by friction or environmental dirt can be gently reduced using a soft eraser.

Maintenance: We recommend applying products that help maintain the leather’s hydration and restore its appearance, such as beeswax-based balms, petroleum jelly or neutral hand cream. Always test on a small area before full application.

Protection: If you wish to preserve the original appearance for longer, apply a high-quality water and stain repellent for leather, free of silicones and wax, as soon as you receive the product.

It is advisable to test the product on a small, discreet area first. Please note that these treatments may slightly darken the leather. Reapply every 2 to 3 months.

For bags with textile elements:

Clean textile areas periodically with a damp cloth. Fabric soaps may be used, following the manufacturer’s instructions carefully and without excess. Do not use undiluted cleaning products, bleach, ammonia or soaps intended for other materials.

In case of stains, act promptly. Remove any excess with a spoon or, if liquid, with a clean white cloth. Non-greasy stains can be treated by gently rubbing with a cloth.

To avoid marks, work in soft circular motions towards the centre of the stain. The fabric must be completely dry before reuse; a low-temperature dryer may be used if needed.

Many pieces combine organic cotton with vegetable-tanned leather. Take care to keep the leather dry during the cleaning process, as colour transfer may occur.

For models such as the Nerja bags, separate the textile part from the leather structure as much as possible and clean each component individually.

For more persistent stains or general maintenance, we recommend professional dry cleaning.

At Belma Craft & Art, we work closely with artisans such as Taller Piccolo to develop pieces that combine design, material and craftsmanship.

We offer the possibility to collaborate on customised or exclusive developments, whether for a specific project or a curated retail selection.

If you are interested in creating an original line of handbags with Taller Piccolo, feel free to get in touch. Please note that custom developments are subject to minimum order quantities.

We would be glad to explore this together.
