Description
The uniqueness of our Merino Wool and Alpaca Throw lies in its one-of-a-kind status, meticulous craftsmanship and the exceptional quality of the natural fibers used.
Handwoven on a manual loom, this throw combines 40% Merino wool and 60% Alpaca, adding an extra layer of quality and softness. Crafted with a refined variant of the twill technique, it creates a textured, eye-catching design with distinctive geometric patterns. Short fringes add a touch of comfort and elegance. This piece is breathable and lightweight, with a medium density that provides high heat retention. To ensure its perfect condition, this piece is delivered in a protective cotton bag, perfect for storing when not in use.
The design and crafting process is meticulous. Ana and Francis weave it thread by thread on a wooden artisan loom, using only their hands and feet. They pay careful attention to every detail of the finishing, from hand-washing with natural soap to brushing to enhance its softness and fluffiness, followed by steam ironing manually.
It’s the meticulous craftsmanship and the quality of the finest natural fibers that ensure this piece will accompany you for a long time without losing its unique appeal.

My visit to Ana y Francis Tejedores workshop located in Orcera (La Sierra del Segura – Jaén), remains vivid in my memory. I recall being surrounded by an array of colors and textures, listening to the rhythmic sound of the looms as Ana and Francis skillfully operated them with their hands and feet. Their meticulous notes revealed the careful creation of each woven piece and sketches of future designs.
The workshop and the landscape shared tranquility and vibrant colors, with the green, blues, and ochres of nature being particularly striking. Touching their scarves and feeling the softness of their rugs and blankets left and unforgettable impression, reflecting Ana y Francis’s meticulous care in their craft. And yet, I was not alone; six exceptional friends were with me, and I can say it was a truly memorable visit for all of us.

DIMENSIONS: 195×95 cm.
COLORS: Warp in natural color and weft in black and grey alpaca.
MATERIALS: Merino wool 40%. Alpaca 60%.
Merino wool is a premium fiber derived from the hair of Merino sheep. Known for its exceptional softness, flexibility, breathability and excellent insulating properties, the Merino sheep used to obtain this wool are native to Extremadura. They are treated with utmost care and respect to ensure the highest quality and softness.
Alpaca is considered one of the most luxurious fabrics in the world. It originates from the Andes (Peru) and is obtained from the hair of the camelid of the same name. Alpaca stands out for its exceptional quality, softness, warmth, thermo-regulating properties, hypoallergenic nature, and odor resistance. Despite its fineness, alpaca garments provide excellent warmth while remaining highly breathable. Additionally, due to its scale-free structure, alpaca fiber does not felt.
FINISHES: Hand-stitched hemstitch on the first and last threads so that the fabric does not fall apart and separates and holds the fringes. Hand-picked weft thread splices on the selvedges. Hand washed, steam ironed and brushed for extra quality, softness and durability.
CARE: To preserve the quality of the blanket and prevent possible damage, we recommend hand washing it with mild detergent and cold water. When drying, roll a towel onto the clothesline and clip the blanket with two clothespins, hanging it vertically to avoid creases. Although the blanket does not require ironing, if desired, follow the recommended temperature settings for wool on your iron.
When not in use, store it in the cotton bag in which it is received to keep it in pristine condition at all times.
